WHAT IS AAA ULTRASOUND?

AAA stands for abdominal aortic aneurysm. An AAA ultrasound can diagnose and examine an abdominal aortic aneurysm. An AAA ultrasound utilizes sound waves to quickly and painlessly examine the aneurysm and can help your doctor come up with a treatment plan to protect your health.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

An AAA ultrasound is painless, non-invasive, and does not use radiation. Your technologist will put some warmed gel on your abdomen to prevent air pockets from forming between your body and the transducer. The transducer will then be gently moved across your abdomen to examine your aorta.

WHY AN AAA ULTRASOUND?

To prevent a rupture, it is important to have AAA diagnosed and treated in a timely manner. Your physician may prescribe an AAA ultrasound if they suspect you have or are at risk for an abdominal aortic aneurysm. It is the most common and least invasive way to diagnose an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Talk to your physician to see if an AAA ultrasound is right for your unique treatment plan.
