The women makers and creators of our historic downtown are unsung heroes in our community. Here’s a list of just a few of those incredible women.

1Kathy Craddock

Owner of Kickshaws Downtown Market, Kathy is an artisan baker at heart. From sourdough bread to cupcakes, everything she makes is gluten-free and vegan! Keep an eye out for her brand-new restaurant: Kickshaws Kitchen. (101 William St.)

2Susan Carter Morgan

Printer of impeccable letter press, Susan owns Downtown Writing and Press. Stop into Forage and make your way upstairs to her print-filled studio. You’ll be glad you did. (208 William St.)

3Susan Finch

Susan is a woodworker who provides Fraser Wood Elements with hand-carved Santa’s around the holidays. We definitely recommend checking them out this season! (820 Caroline St.)

4Sarah Kittredge

Sarah—photographer and co-owner of Kitt Creative—has an amazing background in studio and journalistic photography. Their gorgeous downtown studio is guaranteed to inspire, no matter the occasion. (810 Caroline St.)

5Crystal and Morgan Wellman

This mother-caught duo runs Ladyburg Bath and Body Apothecary. We’re talking amazing bath and body care with a handmade approach. (726 Caroline St.)

6Joy Crump and Beth Black

Executive Chef Joy and Manager Beth are the talent behind two of Fredericksburg’s favorite restaurants: Foode and Mercantile. Enough said. (900 Princess Anne & 205 William St.)

7Elizabeth Woodford and Barbara Posey

Artful Dimensions Gallery hosts the talents of Elizabeth and Barbara. Elizabeth is a textile collage and bead artist, while Barbara features beautiful needle felting. (911 Charles St.)

8D.D. Lecky and Lynette Reed

Potter D.D. and fine artist Lynette both boast a studio in Fredericksburg’s Liberty Town Arts Workshop. D.D. masterfully delivers functional and fun designs. Lynette—who does marbling, fiber, and book arts—brings innovative ideas to her art forms. (916 Liberty St.)
